RockHill Communications Uses epixtech’s Horizon to Move WEB FEET Subject Guides Online
PROVO, UTAH—RockHill Communications of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, has announced it will be using epixtech’s Horizon automation system to offer WEB FEET, RockHill’s general subject guide to the Internet, as an online product. The online version of WEB FEET will use Horizon’s ASP and WebPAC modules. This innnovative product will be offered to WEB FEET’s 2500 subscribers through a partnership with MARCLink Retrospective Conversion. MARCLink will take the entire database of formerly print-only content, catalog it, and offer the Web site selections with full descriptions, LC subject headings, and live links to the Internet, in MARC record format.
The guides RockHill Communications currently publishes include Web Feet * Subject Guide to the Best Web Sites; WEB FEET K–8: Guide to the Best Web Sites With Additional Resources; and coming soon, WEB FEET for Health: An Internet Guide to More Than 300 Illnesses and Conditions. Future collections will include business and science. WEB FEET guides are changing the way librarians provide Internet resources to students and patrons by offering safe, unlimited access across libraries and schools to thousands of the best Web sites, either integrated into the school or library holdings or through the Internet. Sites are selected and rigorously reviewed by WEB FEET’s experienced researchers, librarians, educators and subject specialists.
"We investigated building our own delivery site from scratch," explains publisher Ann Bagnell, "but realized that using epixtech’s Horizon offered us everything we had defined in our site at a much lower entry cost. We also felt that we would benefit from improvements made to the technology on a regular basis."
